The lever action is smooth. Easy to wipe clean. I like not having to bend down to turn the water on/off, or get my hands under the flow of water, as this faucet is a foot tall. Very happy with this purchase. If you like the way this looks, and the size is right for your sink, you won't regret buying it. The first thing I noticed was the laminate (did I know it was laminate? no) around the opening of the faucet began to peel. Then the underlying metal began to rust.Eventually, the faucet began to leak, drowning everything under the sink, as well as the counter and the floor. Not always and not often, and never when there were any witnesses. For months, if not an entire year, I blamed it on the vessel sink drain/seal, engaging in various plumbing tactics in an attempt to contend with the problem. As of yesterday, when I had to clear out my vanity and mop up twice in less than twelve hours, I finally tracked the problem back to the faucet.
